The Lake Situation - Self-Titled
The Lake Situation is the project of former Nub and The Seals member Tim Ineson. The self-titled debut for the project, which will be released on the 3rd of November through And Then Records, was put together over a four period by Ineson. The album takes a small bit from the jagged indie-rock of the past decade while dressing it up a bit with some layering creating a bit of a rising tension within the songs that I don’t thin would otherwise be there. It’s a nice touch. There are times throughout the album that it is sort of obvious that this was something worked on over a gradual period of time due to the varying and minor differences in recordings. However, I think that kind of ties and adds to the sort of solemn image that the album plays out over the span of its twelve tracks. The nifty little bio that came with it mentions something about the Dismemberment Plan, which I can definitely see every so often. There is a bit of the stumbling quirkiness, but I can’t quite say it touches their twisted take on indie-rock. Regardless, The Lake Situation isn’t a bad choice to take a flyer on if anyone out there is looking to rekindle some of their love for that era.The Lake Situation – Mils and the Importance of Colour [MP3]
