The New Flesh - Vessel
This year has seen some fine releases from Baltimore noise makers The New Flesh, their latest single “Dog” and their ridiculously good album Vessel to just name a couple. Since forming in 2002, the trio has been ravaging audience’s ear drums and recording some of the whitest hot noise-rock to come out in recent years. Everything this band does falls into the uncompromising and blatantly nasty category. As noise-rock has always been of the “in your face” nature, some bands are content with being ugly sounding, The New Flesh are definitely not content about anything and their music is all anyone needs to hear to believe that.Their latest album Vessel may actually be one of the bands tamest releases; however that’s almost like saying how one natural disaster is less devastating than the other. Make no mistake; Vessel absolutely bludgeons the listener with one pounding riff after another. The production on the album is the only thing keeping the listener safe from physical harm; however I can’t guarantee the same if anyone decides to make the trek to a live show some time. Either way though, like their previous album Parasite, Vessel manages to vault itself to the top of the filthy bruised and battered pile of noise-rock. There just aren’t enough bands right now that sound like they were forced to listen to early singles on Bovine or AmRep out of the womb and that are genuinely pissed off about something to go along with it. What that may be I don’t know and I surely don’t want to find out. However, that tide seems to be slowly changing as the scuzzed out alcohol fueled rock of the late 80’s and early 90’s seems to be on the up rise. If that’s indeed the case then I can only hope that the majority of them have followed it as closely as the members of The New Flesh have. They are the real deal.

As always if you enjoy the tunes above then throw the band some cash by heading on over to the Human Conduct site. Most, if not all, of their material is listed over there for purchase, just be sure to scroll all the way down the page for everything. Enjoy!
