What there really needs to be is less of a barrier between downloading songs and purchasing albums. There have been a few bands posted here recently that I’d purchase straight away if I could download immeadiately in DRM-free mp3/ogg format. Having to pay a separate shipping charge for each CD I’m just going to rip, store on an external back-up drive, then forget about seems awfully wasteful.

If anyone can give me a heads up on a service that doesn’t require special software, doesn’t require subscription, doesn’t use DRM and supports indie bands and labels, I’d appreciate it.

Don’t know if you get a lot of comments like this, but I wanted to drop you a line to affirm that you’re doing good work with your blog, here. A lot of the time, I come to your blog, download something, and then forget about it, only to be listening to media player on shuffle and find myself saying, “Holy crap! What’s this?!?”

And that’s a good thing.

Recent purchases I’ve made that can be directly attributed to your blog are Sto Cazzo! and the Chavez rtrospective, and I’ve also gone back and picked up Diablo Guapo/Sing the Troubled Beast and Loveless, just ’cause your blog has me listening to that kind of thing, and I loved those albums when they were new.

So, yeah, there are tons of bands that I’ve heard of from your blog that I won’t buy CDs from. But Bozart’s on the list, and Cruff in the Bedroom, and so forth, of bands whose albums I fully intend to pick up when the stars align with the disposable income just right.

So, thanks for the rock. Also, in case you’re wondering whether these downloads you get do in fact lead to purchases? Yes, sometimes they do.
