Some Paw Goodies....

About a year ago I made a post about the fantastic and highly underrated album Dragline from the Lawrence, KS group Paw. What was surprising to me was how much response that post received over time. I actually think that post had more comments than any other post that’s been made on this blog. It was phenomenal to hear from all the people that truly enjoyed this band and great to see that there are so many of them at the same time. Sadly none of the comments could be salvaged after my whole debacle that was my Google account getting stolen and having to create a new one. Anyway, here is a brief portion of what I wrote about the album and the band then.
“It’s such a solid album. Although labeled “grunge”, Paw were quite a bit more melodic and just overall more pleasing to the ears than a lot of the related bands that were around at the time. The group released another album called Death to Traitors before eventually being dropped by A&M. They regrouped in 2000 with a couple new members to record a third album called Home is a Strange Place that was released on Koch.”
On top of the whole comments issue, the MP3’s are no longer up due to a completely unrelated issue which involved me moving servers, etc. However though, since over time I’ve received many positive comments about this album and multiple requests for the MP3’s to be put back up I decided I would just post the whole album for those that want it. It’s out of print these days sadly and for those that want a legit copy of it can drop the few bucks that used copies go for on Amazon these days. I urge everyone to do so. However, for all those that enjoy Dragline and miss Paw as much as I do, here is the link to the full album.

Also, since it’s nearing Christmas here is a link to the bands B-Sides and Rarities album titled Keep the Last Bullet for Yourself, which was released by the band themselves on Outlaw Records in 1998.

Among the albums ten songs it contains “Slowburn” and “The Bridge” from the bands BBC Radio One Session and a cover of Twisted Sister’s “Street Justice”. Pretty cool album for fans of the band that was unfortunately only available for a short period of time.
Enjoy the tunes.

Hey - I'm a fan of Paw from UK but had only ever heard the songs on You Tube. So I attempted to get the CD off of Amazon a year back, but to no avail. Anyway, I was in the States for a few months in Nov and Dec 2007 so I figured I'd pick up a copy of the album there - but again, futile! All the record shops told me it had been deleted. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I stumbled across this page today, downloaded the album, and my god am I happy!
Thanks ever so much.
Probably one of the most underrated bands of the '90's. Indeed, "Dragline" is a great album. Even better is the follow-up "Death to Traitors". Everything about this album is great: the artwork, the production, the songs. The guitar player, Grant, is doing an instrumental thing right now called New Franklin Panthers. The music is very Paw-esque minus the clean breaks (shame). One can only hope that Paw reunites one day. After two great albums, it's hard to believe that there is not some untapped potential remaining.
