Castor – Carnival 7”
I swear that’s the last time I ever post saying I am going to do a few more updates than usual. Every time I make mention of possibly getting a chance to post on the blog more, it jinxes me. This time it was a nasty cold that stuck with me until it finally started feeling a bit better Saturday night. I still don’t feel completely better yet, but I’m pretty close. If anything, I just need to sleep. Anyway, that’s where I’ve been if anybody wondered what may have happened to those potential updates.
Anyway, I don’t really have much to post about as I’ve fallen a bit behind on things I wanted to listen to and get up on the blog. In the meantime enjoy this fine single from Castor. The original post I did about the band can be found here, along with a couple mp3’s from their two albums. This particular single was released before their second album Tracking Sounds Alone. It features an earlier rougher version of Carnival which later appeared on the aforementioned album and the track “Miss Atlantic” which I believe is exclusive to this single. Anyway, enjoy while I try and get back into the swing of things and wait for my eyeballs to stop feeling like they are going to pop out of my skull. Ick, sinuses…

Castor – Miss Atlantic [MP3]
For anyone that still wants to pick up this single, it’s still available through Parasol for a mere fifty cents. So yeah, that’s pretty cheap.

Ha, pretty sure I ripped this version of “Miss Atlantic.” One of my favorite Castor songs. It is exclusive to this single.
Have you heard any of the Castor rarities floating around? There’s “Brand New Room,” which was an alternate live version of “The Halo Befriends Me,” the two songs from the Mud Cover the Earth comp. (“Silent Type” being another favorite; they were planning on re-recording this for an EP before they broke up), and a handful of demos including “Worst Case,” which is a great mid-tempo song. I can upload the demos if you haven’t heard them.

Woah, no…I haven’t heard any of those rarities. If anything I would like to hear those compilation tracks if you wouldn’t mind upping them?
