D?ti Dešt? – Love and Piss

deste D?ti Dešt? Love and PissI honestly don’t know much about D?ti Dešt?, although what I can gather from the internet is that they have been together for around eight years in one form or another in the Czech Republic. A wealth of information isn’t necessarily as important as the music however and thankfully D?ti Dešt? gives me plenty of that. Their album Love and Piss came out earlier this year through the excellent Silver Rocket and I imagine noise-rock fans will be quite pleased with it.

As the album title might suggest, this is a bit of a nasty affair. I can’t say whether that carries over into the lyrics or not, as I can’t translate them but thankfully with a style like this it doesn’t necessarily matter. D?ti Dešt? comes out with a full force of drums and bass that is likely to rattle any loose items or wall hangings if turned up even the least bit. Interspersed throughout that is the jagged shred of guitar and light industrial touches that pretty much completes the D?ti Dešt? sound.

The band sort of reminds me of Distorted Pony, however that’s more so on the first track than anything else. No matter, D?ti Dešt? deliver a significantly powerful sludgy thud that is the sort of thing that makes having a larger home stereo completely worth it. Love and Piss is an album that absolutely relishes in the filthy rumble that it produces and doesn’t pretend to be anything else. Fans of bands like Hammerhead, Unsane, and of course Distorted Pony should be pretty interested in hearing this.

Boy, you’re right about the Distorted Pony similarity. It’s definitely true. That extra percussion really reminds me of them. And Babyland has that same percussion sound over intense rhythms, except they’re working in tandem with a Mac. This is more AmRep than anything.

Passed on this initially, but read your review and got and it and like it a lot, so thanks for the write-up.

    You’re the man as usual.
