Hunt Club – Hunt Club 12” EP

Hunt Club Hunt Club 12 EP

Yet another record to file under the “not necessarily new, but I just happened to stumble across now” category. Hunt Club hail from NYC and judging by the songs contained on their self-titled debut EP, the members could all quite possibly be bipolar, however I am thinking they may just have twisted sense of humor. The band snakes its way through a fairly clever mix of post-hardcore/noise-rock for six songs that also happens to present a dynamic shift in moods from one song to the other. While I don’t know if it was necessarily intentional or not, it’s kind of neat how each side of the record opens up with something sort of up tempo and then ends with a nice dose of sleazy noise-rock that reminds me a bit of Killdozer, and that’s certainly something that’s good to be reminded of. Anyway, this is certainly worth checking out and hopefully Hunt Club sticks around for a bit as it would be interesting to see what the guys put together on a full-length record.
