A Brief Mention for Record Store Day // Glazed Baby & Horsey – Split 7” (1994, Imminent Rock)
So I imagine at this point everyone is pretty aware that this past Saturday was in fact Record Store Day. I missed out on last years unfortunately, but managed to get out and about around KC and drop in a few stores. I wasn’t in on any of the exclusives that were apparently to be had, I am not entirely sure any the stores around here had any of that stuff anyway. But yeah, I am not going to go into detail the stuff I bought. One thing I did get was Shudder to Think’s Ten Spot LP for practically nothing and in damn good shape too. Other than that, maybe some of the other stuff will pop up on here eventually…who knows.
I gave Glazed Baby some love on the blog awhile back, focusing mostly on their final album Ancient Chinese Secret. All of their other albums and EP’s are fairly great though and definitely suggest looking into obtaining copies. This single I am posting is from 1994 and is a split with industrial noise makers Horsey. Not really a big Horsey fan, however they had some decent songs that were spread out mostly over two albums released on Invisible Records. I have a 7-inch from them for the song “Underbelly”, which is half decent and in fact like it more than the version of the song that appeared on their album Diet of Worms. I might post that one day. Anyway, here is this split between the two bands with Glazed Baby doing “Ace Frehley” and Horsey with a live rendition of “Forever Jorge White”, that would also appear on Diet of Worms. This particular piece of wax was part of a tie in with Get Off My Wagon, a zine of some sort. Enjoy.

You can apparently buy Ancient Chinese Secret now from CD Baby, it was a bit hard to find before that so grab it while you can. Check the usual suspects like Amazon and eBay for albums by both Horsey and Glazed Baby.

I put that record/zine combo out when I was in college. Funny to see it springing up again.
