Built on a Weak Spot

This is a pretty cool little single from Oregon’s Sleep Capsule. I posted about them and their two albums Mousepuss and Pink Eye on the blog previously. Since I’ve finally gotten this whole vinyl to mp3 thing in order I figured this might be worth posting for anyone who may have not gotten a chance to hear some of the included songs. Not necessarily sure if they appeared anywhere else. I know the song “Birdthirst” eventually made it on to the bands second album Pink Eye, albeit a re-recorded, shorter, and slicker version. The early version of the song here sounds way more sludge ridden and dense I suppose than the album version. The other two tracks, “Envisionist” and “2nd Mouth”, which appear on the b-side of this 7-inch definitely lean more towards the bands noisier tendencies. The track “2nd Mouth” is pretty much just an assortment of noises and talking accompanied by a repeating bass line and some random feedback. Check it.

Both of the bands albums are still available through Amazon (here and here) used for super cheap and I still very much recommend picking those up. In the meantime, enjoy these tunes.
