GRIDS – PGCOBUIBQTAUWTCS 7”

Got this the other day and have been rocking it pretty heavily around here. I think the PGCOBUIBQTAUWTCS 7’’ is the bands first official release, not counting demos, etc. The debut single features three ripping tunes of abrasive and somewhat mathy inspired rock. And yes, all those letters DO stand for something. I’ve heard these songs previously on the bands MySpace page, however finally getting to hear them on something with a bit more fidelity rather than something comparable to a speaker blaring underneath water is refreshing and prove to be quite more rocking than I was lead to believe initially. The first track on the A-side “Suits” reminds me a lot of the mid-nineties band Pencil, just kind of structurally and how singer Rob Davis’ vocals sound at times. Interestingly enough, Carl Saff mastered these fine tracks…but really I see that dudes name on just about everything it seems these days so I guess it isn’t all that coincidental. Anyway, GRIDS rock and for a sample of them doing so…I suggest checking out this single.

For those interested in picking up PGCOBUIBQTAUWTCS, then just head on over to the bands page on MySpace. They also have a cassette release of a couple Bikini Kill covers, however I have not had a chance to hear that one. Enjoy!
