I LOVE this band. I bought this album when I was 12 years old in 94. Dragline still remains one of my favorite albums of all time.

Mazey Fade - The Raw Materials for Bullets and Stilts a demo tape I found in my cassette drawer after spending an afternoon with Mr Christopher Lee a few weeks back, Terry Green plays drums in Shabby Rogue based in London now. Mr Tony Lee has been a Buddhist monk for many years now. It was hard to fit the sounds with the boys, they were so laid back.

I had a drink with Mr Christopher Lee a few weeks back, he's still a nice man. It was hard to think this excellent manic sound came from these three guys. They were so laid back. Terry Green plays drums in a band called Shabby Rogue based in London now, and Tony Lee has been a Buddhist monk for many years. I feel priviliged to have been considered a friend

I first saw Swervedriver in 1991 in Chapel Hill, NC at the Cat's Cradle. They opened for Poster Children. Needless to say, I was blown away. They were supporting their album "Raise," which I would argue is better than Mezcal (personal preference). Both, to me, are stellar albums, and definitely overlooked.

So my first experience hearing them, was actually seeing them live. I picked up the single for "Son of a Mustang Ford." Probably my favorite Swervedriver song is the B side of that single, "Laze it up." Almost 20 years later, I can still see and hear it live. Just great!

I also saw them in supporting Smashing Pumpkins, which they blew off the stage, as well as their headlining tour in 1993 in support of Mezcal Head, again, at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill. I remember they opened with "Sandblasted." Blew the walls down! And I saw them on their last (before breaking up the first time) tour in 1998. Good show, but by then, they had been so incredibly butchered by their labels, and were not at all promoted (other than poorly), the crowd was smaller, and you could tell they were pretty much over it.

I'm glad to see they're touring again. I really hope they produce some new material and start touring again. My dream show is Swervedriver opening up for Dinosaur Jr. It still may come true!

I was actually pretty good friends with one of their drummers, John McClean. This would have been around 92 or so. I helped them load in when they opened for Sonic Youth at the Cat's Cradle in April of that year. I was a meager sophomore at NC State at the time. They were really good and were perfect for that time period (raunchy female front woman who typically started the show out by farting into the mic), noise, lesbian guitarist, large black man with long dreads and mad skills on drums and a complete animal base.

Mark, you are correct, Kathy is very nice. I also knew her when she was at UNC-G. She sort of lived her stage persona for a while, but I think has since relaxed and may even have a career doing something. Not sure.

Not sure I'd say they were better than Archers. That's a pretty bold statement, but they were one of MANY really great bands in the triangle in the early to mid-90's.

I was stationed in New York in 1992 and actually saw them live. Blew me away-huge band. I was intrigued by the horn section of what seemed like very old men. The audience was full of barefoot dancers that seemed to come out of nowhere and danced in some sort of syncronized pattern-they looked like gypsies. Next day I bought the CD.
